What is TIME?
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

Why is it that people tend to lose time even on his freest? Why do we have to chase time? Why can we own it?

I usually woke up every morning at around 6:00am; have to drink three glasses of water to probably replenish all the liquid in my body already used and lost while asleep; need to wait for around forty-five minutes before taking in anything or usually followed by taking a bath. Taking a bath on holidays or the so-called “no work days” usually consumes around two to three hours, well at least with such I really feel satisfied cleansing the outer part of my body. However during weekdays by waking up around 6:00am would consume an hour to an hour and forty-five minutes. Never did I thought that a big deal spending so much time taking a bath because, everyone believes, you really feel great, conditioned and confident.

So what makes it a big deal by the way? It is just the thought that I probably had procrastinated time something I am unaware of.

Time is something you neither can take back nor hold. Once it comes it comes while in just a blink of your eyes it’s gone without you knowing and it never can wait to have you savored its presence. As they said, time is gold. Definitely it is! Or should I say, time is something more than just gold or treasure. It encompasses all the most valuable possessions in this world.

Most of us would just delay time and once consequence happened because of such delay we blame someone, something or ourselves for not doing the things while there was still a time. It is such a great experience to have time living in this world but most of the time we spent, less are devoted to taking cared of it. We have less time to appreciate the wonders and beauty of this world. We have less or no time to even say “thank you” to the people who have been with us all throughout this time. We have ignored them so as the time they spent with us. And we always ignore the time to be grateful of the “time”.

Once, I had a time to be a child. I used to play and hang out with childhood friends. In any game we played, there was always a time to start it and probably that was a “time in” already. As the game continues, participants wanted to win by engaging tactics to hold on the winning ahead of the others. Someone shouted “time-out”. But is there really a time out? Can anyone have the power to stop the clock ticking? Well, being kids, a feeling would come in a way that time is so long to take or too short for something else. Time is becomes an agony to wait for the sun to set, for the classes to end, for the day to be over so night can be spent for a beautiful and relaxing sleep or that time is such so unfriendly every morning when sun rises and you still want to be asleep. At some point we feel bad thinking that it runs too fast or too slow. With this, I guess, we are giving the time a no –choice. We kill it but still want it to live. We tossed it up and let it fly but with the strings attached to make it pulled down whenever we wanted.

Everyone I guess has experienced a situation wherein you really wanted to freeze the time for real. You wanted to be selfish by owning the time. Grabbing the time and making it an easy way out of your frustrations and ill-feelings. When you feel embarrassed in front of your friends because of saying or doing something unpleasant, chances are you would like the time to stop and turn it back to when you can probably correct an action so by the time you move, people around you would never thought such repulsiveness. A time unwisely spent is like a losing more than just half of your life.

While being a child, we always look forward to a time when we grow old so that things that oldies are doing, saying or thinking, can be done, said and thought by ourselves. But once you grow old you are looking backward to the time when you were still a child with innocent deed, words and thoughts. The feeling would be like a mountain climber who rushed too much to climb up to the highest peak of the mountain but once on the top now, wants to go down quickly

Thinking back of all the things that happened to us would be the best way to appreciate the time passed thereby wiping out the misconceptions of the time we have though a wasted one. Though in our meditation, we might end up much appreciating of those moments but there is much more appreciation to give on the present and the times to come in our life.

Things done are already done and no amount of time can make it undone. In this life there are those times, we lately realized to be so memorable and wanted to bring them back. And there are those times, we wanted to forget. Time is still the element of waiting as it heals something broken in the past.

Time is the most expensive thing if we can call it that way. It signifies certainty. It is certain to be smile because it is time to be happy, certain for someone to cry because the time of sorrow comes and certain for the time over times.

How would you feel the time? Probably for a worker, time is coming for her/his report to be done before the deadline. Pressure of time comes in many forms and often we feel time as an enemy. A time is felt the way a groom waiting for his bride to come for their wedding. A time is for someone who was left by a train or a swimmer who had just won a silver medal, and for someone who was late for his/her job interview.

In business and management set-up, gurus say it can be managed wisely. Time is gold. However, no matter how best it is managed it would just come and go. It may constitute positive or negative changes. Either way, it cannot be brought back. Positive change gives you time to make it even better, negative change gives you no choice but a chance to correct so long s there is TIME.

In religion time had come, has come and will come. That God allowed time to spin for His salvation plan from Adam to Abraham to David to Jesus and for the coming of Jesus.

For me time is time - wisely use it, you gain; waste it, you lose, ignore it, you are going to miss the whole in you.

For you, WHAT IS TIME?
